How to Stay Healthy & Safe at Disney Parks
Sanitize & Wash Hash Often
Disney Parks are high-touch zones. From rides to railings and tables and hugging characters – you’re touching a lot.
Pack some wet wipes with you in your bag to use after rides and before meals.
Don’t forget to wash your hands after the restroom and then even a few more times during the day when you’re passing them.
Keeping your hands clean will help stop the spreading of germs and help to keep you and your family from getting sick on your trip.
Hydrate
Don’t forget your water! Pack a reusable water bottle to have with you at the Parks and refill at water stations.
You can also ask for cups of water at all of the quick-service restaurants and add that to your water bottle.
I’ve been using my new All-Day Bag by Eron Roche, it’s a hydration backpack but it’s cute and it holds all of your essentials.

Pack a Mini First Aid Kit
I never leave my house without my first aid essentials – never. I’ve had too many bad experiences to be without my pain reliever and stomach medicine.
So please pack a pain reliever and stomach medicine. It’s also a good idea to have some band-aids or moleskin to help with blisters.
To help combat dehydration, we love Drip Drops and LiquidIV for extra electrolytes.
What To Do If You Get Sick on Your Disney Vacation
Sun Protection
The sun plays a huge role in your vacation. I know you may not think it does, but it does.
Wear sunscreen every day – no matter the weather. And be sure to reapply every few hours, especially on super hot days.
Pack a hat and some cute sunglasses for extra shade and if it’s crazy hot then pack a small fan or cooling towel.
Overheating isn’t fun and can make you sick. No one wants a trip to the nurse’s office during their Disney trip.
Take the sun seriously and pack sun protection essentials.
How to Survive Disney in the Summer
Be Aware
It may be the Happiest Place on Earth but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to be aware of your surroundings.
Disneyland and Disney World are still extremely high-traffic areas with thousands and thousands of people coming and going each day.
Always be aware of your surroundings, don’t say your room number aloud and don’t give too many details to strangers.
Make conversation and make friends, but always be safe and smart about what information you give to people.
Get Your Rest
I know you’re excited about your trip but please sleep. Sleep the day before you leave, sleep every night and not just for a few hours. Sleep, sleep, sleep.
If you have extra time during the day, take a nap. Take some time to reset, change and head back out for fireworks. Don’t exhaust yourself for a few rides.
Plan your day accordingly, and make time to rest. And don’t stay up later than you need to. If everyone is tired by 9 PM that’s fine; head back to the hotel, watch some TV, and decompress before heading to bed. It does wonders.
Back-to-back 5 AM wake-up calls and then walking for 12-15 hours will start to take a toll after two days. You will be a walking zombie after that. So please rest.
Hotel Room Health & Safety
There are a few tips for hotel rooms that I have for Disney vacations, you can read more here if you’d like. Must-pack Items for Your Disney Hotel Stay
First, wipe down all high-touch areas with antibacterial wipes. This means, remotes, handles, counters, and phones.
Next, wear socks or indoor slippers in the room. Don’t have your bare feet on the floor.
Lastly, invest in a good door lock. It’s always smart to be prepared. You don’t know that everyone staying at Disney is a good person just there for fun. Prepare and be aware.
Kid Safety
Traveling to any destination with kids can be overwhelming but being prepared is the best way to stay ahead of meltdowns and confusion.
If your kids are old enough, walk them through the daily plan and let them know about safety tips, who are safe adults to talk to if they’re lost, and also hotel safety and contact information.
Creating ID bracelets is helpful if you get separated. You can put the parent’s names and numbers on them too.
Another great tip is keeping an Airtag on your kids and the stroller. You can purchase simple bracelet tag holders or even shoe holders. There are a lot of different ways to keep it on your kids without being a burden.
Having an Airtag in your stroller is a great way to find it at night and also….I’ve heard of a stroller-stealing ring at Disney World. They take the super fancy strollers and resell them. But that’s a separate issue.
Basically, an Airtag will help you keep track of your belongings and your family.
Stay Connected
Keeping your group together is important but I know it’s not always realistic. With larger groups, people want to do different things and people get separated.
To help stay connected, create a text group with everyone’s number. That way it’s easy to notify the group at once.
Also talk through a plan for the day, in case people aren’t able to connect through phone.
It’s easy to get turned around in the Parks, so communicate with your group and check in with them if you’ve been separated for a while.
Conclusion
Your Disney vacation is going to be amazing, but it’s still smart to keep your health and safety in mind, even at the Happiest Place on Earth.
Use these nine health and safety tips as a guide to help you navigate the world of Disney with confidence and peace of mind.
Have a wonderful trip and if you have any questions, leave them below in the comments.
See you at the Parks!
