Disneyland is one of the most photographed places on earth! But there are so many locations in Disneyland to get the perfect pic and we don’t always have the funds for countless trips to the parks. So, for cute and FREE photo spots at Disneyland, head on over to Downtown Disney!
This post is all about the best places to take photos in Downtown Disney.
Downtown Disney is the free shopping and dining district just outside of Disneyland and California Adventure. While you may have to pay for parking, no tickets are required to enter this area.
The Downtown Disney District is the perfect place to snap pics, dress up, shop, and grab a delicious dinner and drinks. It’s easily one of my favorite places to go for the atmosphere and Disney cheer.

#1 Disneyland Esplanade
The top of the topmost iconic places to take a picture at Disneyland and the Downtown Disney District – the esplanade. This area is located just between the entrance of the two parks and is a prime place for photos and to catch the fireworks at night. Grab your friends and pose for the cutest pics around!
# 2 Sorcerer Mickey Hat
Nothing screams Disneyland like Mickey’s sorcerer hat! Find this location at the entrance of the Disneyland Hotel. The middle of the day is usually the quietest time to snap a great photo here. Get creative and have fun!
#3 Restaurant with a View
There are a few great rooftop patios in Downtown Disney for photo ops. This picture was taken at Ballast Point in the center of the shopping and dining district. It’s right across from UVA Bar and the Disney Home shop. Pose with a drink, a delicious burger or a big group of all of your friends. Blue skies and sunshine is what Disneyland is made of.
#4 Holiday Displays
Disney is never in short supply of holiday displays. Halloween, Christmas, or Spring – you’ll find the best and brightest displays here full of flowers and magic. Coordinate your family holiday photos here or some fun content photos. The changing decor never disappoints.
#5 Downtown Disney Sign
The blue signs welcoming you into Disneyland remind me of the McDonald’s golden arches. They are magic! Snap a photo at the Blue sign near the old ESPN Center near the Disneyland Hotel or snap a pic at the sign at the main entrance on Harbor blvd. Both are perfect!
#6 Disney Instagram Walls (ESPN Zone)
Instagram walls have become quite famous at Disneyland. The old ESPN Zone was even once a Disney Instagram museum with different rooms for photo ops. Today, the ESPN Zone is still closed but the walls and windows around it change seasonally. There are always fun photo opportunities here, be sure to check it out!
#7 World of Disney
World of Disney is the most magical store on earth. Snap some photo magic and then head inside for the best Disney merch around. Nothing says Downtown Disney more than this store!
#8 The Tea Cups at the Disneyland Hotel
This is ALWAYS a fun location to snap pics. It’s usually packed during the day because these teacups are located at the font desk of the Disneyland Hotel but at night it is nice and empty. We recommend having a drink at Trader Sams and then making your way here for some hilarious photos.
#9 Trader Sams Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel
Last but not least – Trader Sams! If you haven’t been here then you’re missing out. The inside of this bar is tiki-themed. Here, you can find amazing themed drinks, snacks, and ambiance. Some drinks even make the barstools move up and down or the volcano erupt. They have recently expanded to the outdoor patio but if you want all of the fun, then be sure to grab a seat inside.
Thank you for joining in on the fun around Downtown Disney. I hope you take some cute photos here and are able to find even more photo ops in the future!
