Looking for a fun outdoor activity this Spring? Look no further than the Carlsbad Strawberry Company.Â
You may have seen the “U-PICK Strawberries” sign along the 5 freeway on your way to or from San Diego, you can’t miss it.
This location is prime for a fun stop on your weekend San Diego trip. Located in Carlsbad, about 20 minutes north of Del Mar, you will find huge fields of delicious strawberries ripe for picking.

The Carlsbad Strawberry Company is open year-round for various seasonal activities, most notably for their strawberry and pumpkin picking seasons.
They also offer a wonderful produce market with local items like honey, salsas, ice cream and of course strawberries. The blood oranges are also amazing from this stand and you can find them in huge bags for a great price.
If you’re looking for a great outdoor activity in the Carlsbad/San Diego area, this one’s for you.

I thought the prices weren’t too bad. I had already done my research on prices before I arrived so I wasn’t shocked by anything. I was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do actually. And this event only lasts a few months out of the year and you are supporting a local business – it feels like a win-win for me.

I was so excited to see how much there was to do when we arrived. I literally thought we just walked in and went straight to the fields but I was so wrong. There was a ton of space and tables set up everywhere and at a nice distance from one another too. They had food and drinks stands including elote, a fancy coffee stand, kettle corn, tacos, and boba! I believe you can also bring in your food too – but please double-check.

The sunflower maze was included with admission. Additional costs were for the apple cannons, kids zone, and the animatronic bull riding.

If you miss hanging out in groups and are looking for a comfortable place outside, I would suggest the Strawberry fields.

The actual strawberry fields are very narrow and all dirt. I would suggest flat shoes and no heels. Dressing up is always fun just be aware of the type of area you are in – lots of dirt, mud, and trenches.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the day was magical and you can definitely spend an afternoon there. I would look into packing my own food and drinks for the next time I visit but there are food and beverage stands set up for guests to enjoy.
The Carlsbad Strawberry Fields are a great place to experience and its location is perfect for anyone traveling to or from San Diego.
