When I think about vacation, especially a summer vacation, I envision feeling great, glowy, and happy. However, I’ve experienced too many panic attacks while packing and planning for a trip, or feeling uncomfortable and insecure during my travels. These moments become distractions, taking away from the joy and relaxation that vacations should bring. Instead of stress and worry, vacations should be about happiness, confidence, and relaxation.
With this ‘glow-up’ routine, the goal isn’t to change yourself but to enhance and elevate your routine and the way you view yourself. Vacation is a time to be whoever you want to be. Personally, I love to dress up more and get creative with my outfits when I’m on vacation. It’s a time to have fun and really shine.
So, here are some tips to prep for a trip and to embrace summer feeling good, refreshed, and reset. Let’s soak up the summer and take this time to refocus our energy and reflect on the goals we’ve set for ourselves. When it comes to vacationing and traveling, having a good routine in place can make all the difference in feeling ready and confident!

Investing in good skincare products tailored to your skin type can make a significant difference in its health and appearance. Moreover, protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays is crucial for preventing premature aging and sun damage.
A good after-sun skincare routine is equally important to replenish lost moisture, soothe sun-exposed skin, and repair any damage caused by prolonged sun exposure. Glowy skin isn’t just a trend; it’s a reflection of healthy skin that keeps you feeling refreshed and confident.
At-Home Tan: Achieve that sun-kissed glow with a fake tan if desired. It’s all about feeling confident in your skin.
Moisturizer and SPF: Keep your skin hydrated and protected with a daily moisturizer and SPF suitable for your skin type. Reapply SPF every 2 hours, especially when exposed to direct sunlight.
Exfoliation: Incorporate both physical and chemical exfoliation into your routine to reveal smooth, glowing skin. Customize your exfoliation routine based on your skin’s needs and sensitivity. I use a body scrub twice a week, a facial exfoliator twice a week and then I’m introducing a chemical exfoliator slowly – every 2 weeks.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening has become essential, especially for those of us who enjoy coffee and tea regularly. Personally, my love for these beverages has impacted the color of my teeth, leading to some yellowing.
To tackle tooth discoloration, I’ve started using whitening strips. I’ve found that the coconut ones work best, my teeth are noticeably brighter after just a few uses. I feel a lot better smiling in all my photos knowing that my teeth are looking good.
Nails
Something I’ve added to my self-care routine is having nice nails. I don’t really go into the salon a lot but I’ve become addicted to at-home nail care and press on nails.
I enjoy taking the time each week to update my nails, and pick out new colors or new press-ons from Ulta or CVS.
At first, it was just for big trips but now I like to change up my nails for every trip, big or small and also for fun weekend activities.
To me, it adds a bit more fun and sparkle to my outfits and overall mood when getting ready.
Hair Care
Hair care is crucial, especially if you’re aiming to grow out your hair. Investing in quality products and establishing a consistent routine can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your hair.
Try to minimize the use of hot tools and opt for air-drying or heatless styling methods whenever possible to prevent damage and breakage.
Incorporating nourishing treatments like hair masks and scalp oil massages can help maintain the health of your hair and stimulate growth.
Additionally, protective hairstyles promote hair strength and overall hair health.
Deep Conditioning: Integrate regular hair masks into your routine to nourish and strengthen your hair, leaving it silky and frizz-free.
Silk Pillowcase or Bonnet: Protect your hair from breakage and promote healthier strands by sleeping on a silk pillowcase or wearing a silk hair bonnet.

These go-to outfits play a significant role in how you feel during your vacation, whether you’re getting ready for a night out or lounging by the pool.
By curating your wardrobe around easy-to-mix-and-match pieces that you love, you’ll cut down on time spent getting ready and ensure that you always feel good about what you’re wearing.
Planning your outfits ahead of time, including options for different occasions such as comfy outfits, dinner attire, and outfits for exploring, allows you to pack strategically and eliminates the stress of last-minute decisions.
Hairstyles are another aspect to plan for. I used to stress about trying new hairstyles while on vacation, only to end up disappointed when they didn’t turn out as expected.
Now, I practice new styles ahead of time or stick to tried-and-true looks like straight hair, simple braids, or beach waves.
Adding hair accessories can elevate the look without adding complexity or time.
When it comes to sleepwear, having matching pjs sets the tone for your nightly routine.
A matching pajama set not only enhances the experience but also makes winding down and doing your skincare routine more enjoyable.
