Summer at Disneyland has been amazing and also HOT! Like, extremely hot. The parks have been relatively empty because the heat has been so intense.
Only one of my four trips this month has been longer than 4-5 hours and on that trip we spent a lot of time in the shade.
Picking your outfit for summertime at Disneyland doesn’t need to be stressful. Just stick to a comfortable outfit and keep the layers lightweight.
This post is all about what to wear to Disneyland in July.
If you plan to stay at a nearby hotel, your outfit choices are a lot easier because you can change them up halfway through the day.
If you plan on wearing a cute outfit for photos and such, I would recommend packing a more loose-fitting outfit to change into later.
A larger tote bag or backpack is good to pack or you can rent a locker.
Since my trips weren’t very long, I didn’t pack additional outfits.
Here is what I wore to Disneyland in July.

Summer Disneyland Outfits
Black Dress and Colorful Accessories
I had originally planned to do a Halloween-inspired outfit for this day but last minute decided that I wanted to add more color to my look.
I had already laid out my spooky outfit and then switched it up in the morning. I was inspired by my green Monsters Inc. hat to layer on lots of colorful jewelry and a large tote bag.
Something about the hat made me want to feel like a bag lady. No idea why.
I packed a large bag to fit all of my summer essentials like my fan and umbrella but also my laptop to get some writing done at the hotel.
I had a lot of fun with this outfit and it definitely inspired my looks for the rest of the month.
@julia.vaness Summer Disneyland outfit of the day. It was another hot and surprisingly humid day. I packed my hat, umbrella, fan and water to keep me cool! #disneyland #disneystyle #midsizeoutfits #midsizestyle #midsizedisneyoutfits #disneylandoutfitsummer #summerdisneyoutfit ♬ original sound – Julia Vaness
Black Jeans and a Disney T-shirt
On this Disney day, I spent 6 hours with my besties before heading to the Parks. We had a casual day together and this was my outfit.
I forgot that I made a reservation so I popped on over to Disneyland on my way home.
I’ve been loving these jeans from H&M and pairing them with a relaxed-fit shirt.
I picked up with ‘Disney Besties’ at Tokyo Disneyland last year but I’ve seen a few people wear it at the parks recently, so I think it’s still being sold. (If you have a trip planned there soon.)
My tote bag is from ASOS and it’s still available. I originally picked this one up for our Singapore trip and it’s perfect because it holds so much. It has 3 compartments so I can stay pretty organized with it too.
@julia.vaness Very relaxed outfit for Disneyland today. I was so happy that it wasn’t over 90 degrees! I was actually able to walk around today. #disneylandsummeroutfit #midsizedisneyoutfits #disneylandoutfit #disneyfit #disneystyle ♬ original sound – Julia Vaness
Dalmatian Print Overalls and Pink Top
I spent like 3 hours trying to find a Disney-themed outfit for this trip and then just as I had given up and surrendered to wearing a ‘normal outfit’ I saw these overalls tucked away in my closet and was filled with inspiration!
I’m surprised how many times I’ve worn these overalls over the years. I picked them up from Top Shop about 4 or 5 years and I have consistently been wearing them.
They spark so much joy and I love layering on all the colors and textures with them.
It was a super hot day, so I went with a strapless top and then layered on the accessories.
I packed everything in my large green tote that I decorated for our Disney World trip back in February. I had every expectation to buy a new hat this day but I didn’t find one that sparked joy…so I just relied on my trusty umbrella for shade.
I also added in my extensions for a long braid and I received so many compliments on my look this day. I was literally shocked because it had come together so quickly and randomly and I was just excited to throw on a lot of colorful items. Thank you for all the love on this look! 😍

Relaxed Fit Mickey Mouse Track Shorts and White T-Shirt
I actually went crazy trying to plan an outfit for this day. I was so frustrated because what I had planned I didn’t end up feeling good in because I was so bloated from eating tons of yummy food at a family party the day before.
I literally wanted to Google ‘bloated Disney outfit ideas” lol. Instead, I just went with what I knew was going to be comfortable and keep me cool on a hot day.
It was a quick trip with my besties and their kids, so I knew we would be running around chasing the kiddos and trying to get in all the character lines.
Keeping it simple was definitely the best decision I could have made.
I still wanted to jazz up the look a bit so I went with giant braids and tons of colorful accessories.
@julia.vaness Summer Disneyland outfit of the day 💖✨ It was another warm day in Anaheim. We survived with hats, sunnies and my trusty umbrella. #disneyparks #disneyday #disneyvlog #disneyfit ♬ original sound – Julia Vaness
How to Dress for Disneyland in July?
Disneyland is very hot in July. On some days it was even humid. The weather has been getting worse year over year, as I’m sure it is everywhere.
Prepare for a lot of sun and be sure to pack the essentials. Take breaks and stay hydrated.
For clothes, I would suggest light layers and unless the temp drops significantly at night – you probably wont need a jacket.
I was able to get away with loose-fitting jeans a couple of times but shorts and dresses are best.
Layer on the sunscreen. Even on your legs. I usually get a heat rash on my legs (not cute) but only when I wear shorts.
What to Pack for Disneyland When It’s Hot
The summertime calls for a few extra essentials in your bag. I prefer a nice tote bag or a backpack to hold all my items.
Here’s everything you’re going to need for a hot day at Disneyland.
- Umbrella
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- SPF
- Fan
- Cooling Towel
- Water
- Electrolyte Powder

It’s always better to be overprepared. Remember to take breaks and to try to start your day early to avoid the intense sun.
Let me know if you have any questions on anything I was wearing or if you have any tips you would like to share.
Have a great trip!
XOXO,
