What to Wear, What to Pack & Tips for Visiting in October
October is one of the best months to visit Disneyland. Between the cooler weather, Halloween overlays, and all the pumpkin treats – the park feels extra magical.
But if you’re planning your outfits, there’s one thing you should know: October in Southern California can’t make up its mind. One day it’s 60 degrees and breezy, the next it’s 85 and sunny.
So, what should you wear to Disneyland in October? Let’s break it down – with outfit ideas, what to pack, and a few tips to make your fall park day even better.

What to Wear to Disneyland in October
October weather at Disneyland usually means warm afternoons and cooler evenings. Think layers – light enough for daytime but cozy enough once the sun goes down.
Here’s what I love to wear (and what always works):
- Lightweight sweater or crewneck – I love a good Disney Halloween sweatshirt or something simple and fall-themed.
- Shorts or jeans – Early October can still be hot, but late October is more denim weather.
- Comfortable sneakers – Always. Your feet will thank you.
- Base layer tee or tank – If it warms up, you can easily take off your outer layer and still look cute.
- Crossbody bag or mini backpack – Easy to carry your phone, charger, and snacks.
- Halloween or Fall accessories – Minnie ears, spirit jerseys, or even a fun pumpkin hat. It’s Halloween Time at Disneyland, so go for it!
If you’re visiting for Oogie Boogie Bash, don’t forget to check the costume guidelines – adults can wear costumes only during the party hours, and it’s so fun seeing everyone dressed up.
What to Pack for Disneyland in October
Packing for Disneyland in the fall is all about comfort, layers, and practicality. Here’s a quick checklist:
- Reusable water bottle (it’s still warm during the day)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses and hat
- Light jacket or sweatshirt for evenings
- Portable phone charger
- Hand sanitizer and wipes
- Poncho or light rain jacket (rare but possible late in October)
- Halloween-themed outfit or ears
If you’re staying late for fireworks or the Halloween parade, bring something a little warmer to throw on – it cools down fast once the sun sets.
Tips for Going to Disneyland in October
October is one of the busiest times of year, especially around Halloween weekend and during Oogie Boogie Bash nights at California Adventure. Here are a few tips to make your visit smoother:
- Go midweek if you can. Mondays through Thursdays are usually less crowded.
- Check the Oogie Boogie Bash schedule. California Adventure closes early on party nights, so plan your park days accordingly.
- Use Genie+ or Single Rider lines. The lines can get long, especially for Haunted Mansion Holiday and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark.
- Arrive early. Mornings are cooler and less crowded – perfect for getting those cute outfit photos before it gets warm.
- Stay for the night atmosphere. The Halloween lighting, music, and decorations are incredible after dark.
What I Wore to Disneyland in October
Halloween Outfit Disneyland

- Purple Barrel Jeans from GAP
- Donald Devil T-shirt
- Black Platform Converse
- Black Tokyo Disney Bag with Bag Charms
- Bangles
I love casual and colorful outfits for Disneyland and this one spoke to me. It wasn’t a bright and colorful outfit – but more of a dark and colorful vibe.
I wore my new barrel jeans from GAP with my Donald Devil shirt from Disneyland a couple of years ago.

My platform Converse are my go-to sneakers for most days and they were perfect for this outfit.
For the bag, I wore my Disneyland Tokyo crossbody and added a couple of themed charms. The Mickey Pumpkin charm is from Small Shop After All and the Zero charm is from Amazon.

Colorful Halloween Outfit for Disneyland
- Pink Drawstring Pants
- Winnie the Pooh Halloween Shirt
- Green Quilted Puffy Bag
- Black Platform Converse
I LOVED this outfit!!! Colorful outfits spark so much joy!! I love dressing up for Halloween because any color works. I look like its the middle of summer but the outfit is still doing it’s thing for Halloween.

I’m wearing pink drawstring pants I picked up a few years ago from H&M. The Winnie the Pooh shirt is new from Disneyland this year. My bestie and I both picked it up! We love matching.
My green quilted puffy bag is from Amazon. I usually have a ton of charms on it but it desperately needed to be washed and I was too lazy to put all the charms back on. Lol
One day it will be cute and charming again. 🙂

Comfortable Halloween Outfit Disneyland

- Black shorts
- Yellow Halloween Sweatshirt
- Pink Sneakers by Steve Madden
- Belt Bag from Forever 21
- Lots of Accessories
Another comfortable Halloween outfit. I honestly struggled this day. I’ve been in a bit of a styling funk and I could not think of what to wear – so I went with my favorite go-to outfit combo.
A sweatshirt tucked into my black shorts with some cute sneakers. That’s it – that’s the look.
And I loved it!! I always do.

My yellow Halloween sweatshirt is from two years ago. My black shorts are from Target three years ago.
My pink sneakers are still in stock at Steve Madden! I love them so much!! They are so cushiony!
I had to liven up the look with a ton of accessories. I layered so many rings and bracelets. It’s my favorite thing to do!!
