I recently had the chance to visit the brand-new Chase Sapphire Lounge at the San Diego Airport, just days after its grand opening. While we only had about 45 minutes to explore the space, it was by far the best airport experience we’ve had in San Diego.
If you’re familiar with the San Diego Airport, you know it’s not exactly famous for luxury amenities. It’s a smaller airport—one we love for its low crowds—but it doesn’t boast the perks you’d find at hubs like LAX or JFK. That’s what makes this new lounge such a game-changer!
During our short visit, we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and thoughtful amenities the lounge offers. If you have a Chase Sapphire card and find yourself at the San Diego Airport, this is one stop you won’t want to miss.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new lounge, so you’ll be ready to make the most of your visit.
Welcome to the Chase Sapphire Lounge
Tucked away in Terminal 2 between gates 46 and 47, the Chase Sapphire Lounge spans over 10,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed space. Inspired by San Diego’s laid-back vibe, the lounge features modern interiors, expansive windows, and plenty of cozy corners to kick back and relax. Whether you’re here to unwind, grab a bite, or power through some work, this space caters to it all.
Hours: Open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Breakfast: Served from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Main meal service: Available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Dining & Drinks: Local Flavors Done Right
If you’re looking for good food and drinks before your flight, this lounge doesn’t disappoint. With locally inspired menus crafted by some of San Diego’s best, the dining experience is a major highlight.
- Breakfast Options: Start your day with Groundwork Coffee, seasonal fruits, pastries, or made-to-order dishes like green-chili-and-mushroom eggs Benedict or a chorizo, bacon, and ham-filled torta.
- Lunch & Dinner: Enjoy flavorful bites such as shredded chicken tostadas, torta de elote, or crispy garlic-and-parmesan chicken bites.
- Desserts: Grab a walnut blondie or an oatmeal raisin cookie before heading out.
- Drinks: Choose from an extensive cocktail menu, local craft beers (including Ballast Point IPA), and curated wines from New York’s Parcelle. Don’t miss the San Diego-inspired cocktails, like the Queen of Rum Row or the Prickly and Sweet.
Best of all, food and drinks can be ordered directly to your seat via a QR code, ensuring a seamless experience.
Amenities: Relaxation Meets Productivity
Whether you’re seeking tranquility or productivity, the lounge offers a range of amenities:
- Relaxation Pods: Book one of four pods equipped with large windows, digital meditations, and serene views of planes taxiing.
- Workspaces: Utilize private booths, USB-equipped workstations, and a private phone room.
- Complimentary Services: Indulge in a 15-minute facial by Face Haus or snag a custom luggage tag featuring San Diego-inspired artwork.
- Classic Amenities: High-speed Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, a shower, nursing and family rooms, and more.
Who Can Access the Lounge?
Access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge is exclusive to the following cardholders:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers can enter with up to two guests for free.
- The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card holders have unlimited complimentary guest access.
- Priority Pass Members with a Chase Sapphire Reserve card can visit up to three hours before departure.
Other Priority Pass members can visit once per calendar year, with additional visits costing $75.
Final Thoughts
The new Chase Sapphire Lounge at San Diego International is a welcome addition to an airport that has long lacked luxury options. From the locally inspired menu to the tranquil relaxation pods, this space elevates any layover or pre-flight experience.
If you’re a Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholder, this lounge alone might justify the annual fee. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and recharge while enjoying San Diego-inspired cuisine and first-class amenities.
Next time you’re flying out of San Diego, be sure to check it out—you won’t regret it!
XOXO,
Julia
