The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has transformed into an experience for all the senses. Food and beverage experiences are now part of the Coachella lineup, with top-tier sushi restaurants and 4-course dinner parties adding unique activities to the Coachella Festival.
This post is all about the food and drinks at Coachella Valley Music Festival.
How Much is Food at Coachella
Coachella is expensive. Please don’t go into this thinking you’ll save money. You can’t bring in food or drinks to the festival, so be prepared to spend a good amount to survive the heat.
Water can get expensive at Coachella, especially in the heat, so pack your own empty plastic water bottle (no stainless steel or glass allowed) and fill up for free at the water stations.
Food is the big one, since you can’t bring it in. They do offer a variety of vegan options, gluten-free and then a smorgasbord of other foods but it will set you back $15-18 for a burrito and $8 for a soda. Be prepared.
Hidden Bars at Coachella
In addition to the beer gardens and cocktail bars, Coachella also offers guests a fun little speakeasy experience. Each year Coachella hosts a few hidden bar experiences for attendees to find. Discover hidden oasis bars with trees, ample seating and fantastic drinks.
These hidden bars are perfect for escaping the large crowds of the festival and offer guests a more intimate atmosphere while still feeling like part of the party.

Coachella Dining Experiences
Located in the VIP Rose Garden, guests can purchase a separate ticket ($350/person) to experience a 4-course family-style meal from a variety of top chefs.
Tickets are sold for each day of the festival. A wristband is required to enter, so you will need to purchase this experience in addition to your festival pass.
A welcome cocktail is included as well as beer and wine. Guests also have access to the VIP Rose Garden for the entire day of their dining experience.
I would love to recommend Scratch restaurants because their sushi really is amazing but my husband and I went to their restaurant and the atmosphere of the Chefs and even other guests turned us off.
It was a very pricey dining experience and the Chef said he had never trained with a Master Chef – like he never studied the art of sushi making. For me, big red flag! This is an art from a culture that is not his and to not study it seems rude.
The food was good but I don’t think the owners respect the culture enough for us to visit again.
Final Thoughts
As much as some people want to fight it, Coachella and its legion of influencers and brand deals is here to stay. Whether you prefer the old ways of flower crowns and hard-core rock bands or the heavily filtered version, you can still have fun.
Coachella offers a lot more than its incredible musical lineup and art, it offers guests a chance to make new friends, try new foods, and make new memories.
It’s truly a festival for the senses and even though the food and drinks can really add up, it’s still a big part of the overall experience of Coachella.
