Finding great restaurants wherever you are traveling is key to a perfect trip. Finding sushi in the middle of the desert isn’t hard if you know where to look.
Sandfish Sushi and Whiskey is the best sushi restaurant in Palm Springs.
This post is all about the Omakase dinner at Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey in Palm Springs.
If you’re visiting Palm Springs you’re going to want to eat at the top restaurants in the area. Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey is at the top of every list.

Address: 1556 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Sandfish is located on the main strip in Palm Springs. It’s within walking distance of the Margaritaville hotel and all of the local bars.
Omakase Dinner:
Omakase means you leave the menu for the Chef to decide. It’s usually a few courses and it’s always the best items on the menu and sometimes items not found on the menu.
The omakase dinner was nine courses, including dessert. Drinks were not included but are available to purchase separately. You can also order the drinks Omakase and let them choose what to drink based on the meal.
Price:
The Omakase menu is $129/person and does not include drinks. It does include dessert as the last course.
What was Served:
To start the night we both ordered drinks before the meal. Then the magic happened and the best food ever was served.
1. Spanish Octopus
The octopus was grilled and marinated it in this amazing sauce and served it with edamame hummus. The texture wasn’t rubbery – it was cooked perfectly.
2. Spicy Tuna Tostada
Simple and perfect. You can’t go wrong with spicy tuna.
3. Duck Liver Mousse
4. Albacore Tataki
5. Scallop in Shell
Once again, I was blown away by how amazing these scallops were. I’m going to go as far as saying they were one of the top dishes of the night.
6. Hamachi Sashimi
I have to say, I ordered a similar dish from another restaurant the following day and was very disappointed. Sandfish definitely has top-quality fish and knows how to prepare it.
7. Rolls
You can’t go wrong with giant sushi rolls. These two were named after the chef’s restaurants. I believe these ones are a house favorite – we saw a few other tables order the full-size portions of these rolls.
8. Nigiri
The nigiri was perfect. Three pieces were served with soy sauce, ginger and wasabi.
9. Oreo Cheesecake Mousse
Final Thoughts
If you like sushi even a little bit, you must try this restaurant. I want to go to Palm Springs again just to relive this meal.
Right now they offer outdoor seating to abide by state laws for covid-19. I’m not sure if there is always outdoor seating available.
They put together a nice patio but it did take over the parking lot, so there is only street parking available.
