How do you take care of your skin on an overnight flight? I’ve asked myself that question a lot. And luckily, after many overnight flights, I’ve figured it out.
If you’re anything like me, you know the jet-setting life can take a toll on your skin. The dry air, lack of sleep, and endless hours in transit can leave your skin feeling less than fabulous.
But fear not, because I’ve got the ultimate guide to skincare for overnight flights that will have you arriving at your destination looking and feeling refreshed. Let’s dive in!

Best Skincare for Overnight Flight
Traveling can be tough on your skin, but you can combat the effects with the right routine. Here are my steps to a good inflight skincare routine for an overnight flight.
Step 1: Cleanse
First things first, let’s talk about cleansing. I opt for the convenience of wipes—they’re a game-changer when you’re on the move. I also like them because the restrooms are so tiny on planes and I hate to bring anything in with me too. No matter what, I always feel like they are dirty.
Step 2: Facial Mist & Moisturizer
After I cleanse I like to follow up with a soft toner like rose water before I moisturize. For my evening skincare routine, especially during a flight, I prefer going with a richer moisturizer. Most nights I wear castor oil under my eyes for extra moisture. It’s great for a flight too!
Step 3: Chapstick and SPF
Avoid chapped lips by packing your favorite chapstick or balm. And yes, even at night, I like to add a layer of SPF – you can never be too careful at 30,000 feet.
Step 4: Hair Care
Not a skincare tip but I’ve slept with my silk hair bonnet every single night since I got it and I’m not skipping it even on a flight. I also have two eye masks that I switch between, one silk one and one weighted eye mask. I tend to wear my weighted eye mask more on flights but I always pack both. They help with getting good sleep on the flight. And good sleep helps with good skin.
Step 5: Hydrate Inside Out
Stay hydrated water and electrolytes. Avoid stimulants and depressants like coffee and alcohol. You’ll have a much more rested sleep and wake up feeling a lot better too. Everything comes back to hydration and sleep for good skin. When I’m awake and watching TV, I even wear my under-eye masks to help with puffing. I’m obsessed with in-flight skincare 😍
Step 6: Bodycare
Your face isn’t the only star of the show. Show the rest of your body some love with a good moisturizing lotion. I don’t have a preference for a body lotion for the flight. I grab whatever they have in the travel section at Target.
How Do You Wash Your Face On A Plane Overnight
Washing your face during a flight doesn’t need to be complicated. Skip the long waits for the tiny bathrooms and stick an easy routine you can do from your seat.
Opt for a makeup wipe or a gentle micellar water to cleanse your face. Be sure to clean your hands before touching your face. I like to pack anti-bacterial wet wipes and regular hand wipes to keep my hands clean during flights. After you cleanse, follow up with a splash of rose water to rehydrate and prep your skin for the full routine.

Ensure your skincare kit is TSA-approved. Invest in travel-sized products or snag some travel containers for your favorite products. Keep everything within arm’s reach for easy access and a stress-free routine.
