What is Horror Nights?
Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event that takes place during the Halloween season at Universal Studios. Guests can purchase a ticket for a single night or a season pass for unlimited visits during that current season. The event includes walk-through mazes based on Universal Studios Monsters and classic horror movies, access to some rides and attractions, and scare zones. They also have food and beverages for sale, along with Horror Nights-themed merchandise.
When is Horror Nights?
Horror Nights takes place from September 9 – October 31, 2021 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
7PM – 2AM (Early entry begins at 6PM)
Top Tips for Horror Nights:
- Wear Your Mask
- Get there early – Early entry is at 6PM. If you want food in City Walk get there around 4PM.
- Upgrade to the Express Pass – The Express pass works for all mazes and any of the rides that are open.
- Don’t try to sneak items in – They have security and police dogs to search everyone.
- Go with a good group – Pick a group that will stay together and look out for each other.
- Free photo op on the terror tram – Get a free photo in front of the Psycho House with Norman Bates
- Terror Bar
- Terror Tram closes early – The Tram (Backlot Tour) closes around 11PM. Plan accordingly.
- Earplugs – If you’re scared easily, have sensory issues or are overwhelmed easily.
What Can I Pack for Horror Nights?
- Earplugs: Horror Nights is LOUD and can be a bit overwhelming. It’s easy to get lost in the flashing lights, chainsaws, and screams. I recommend wearing earplugs in the mazes if you’re prone to panic/anxiety attacks or if you’re afraid. Just like turning off the volume at home, blocking out the sounds in the mazes make them easier to enjoy without all of the loud noises happening around you.
- Outside Food and Water/Drinks are NOT ALLOWED. You will need to purchase food and drinks inside Universal Studios or in City Walk before you enter the event. You cannot bring in any food or drinks to this event.
- Glow Sticks – Universal doesn’t allow flashing items or light-up items in the mazes but they do sell glow sticks. If you can bring your own that can save you a few dollars. I recommend wearing some glow bracelets if you are in a group so that you can easily find each other in the mazes and around the park. Please note that you will have to turn off glowing items or have them covered as you walk through the maze.
Do I Need To Be Vaccinated To Attend Horror Nights?
As of October 7, 2021 Universal Studios Hollywood is requiring proof of vaccination for persons 12 years and older OR a negative covid-19 test within 72 hours of arrival. Guests will also need to show ID with their vaccination card. You can find out more information about Universals COVID guidelines on their website.
