This post is all about staying at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Location
4455 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89169
How far is the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas from the Strip?
- The Virgin Hotel is 1.3 miles to the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino and 1 miles from Planet Hollywood. In Vegas-walking time it’s about a 30-minute walk.
How far is the Virgin Hotel from the Las Vegas Airport?
- The airport is about 2.5 miles from the hotel
Location, Location, Location. Vegas is huge and where you stay matters. Especially if you’re there for the main attraction, The Strip.
As previously mentioned, the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas was formerly the Hard Rock Hotel. It’s located a few minutes off the Las Vegas Strip, just down the street from the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino.
I will preface by saying that everything in Vegas is further than it seems. That means the one-mile walk you think will be 15 minutes will be at 25-30 minutes. That’s no exaggeration, it’s hot, there’s usually alcohol involved and someone is always going in the wrong direction. ALSO! Las Vegas purposely designs its hotels to look smaller so you are tricked into walking everywhere because they look closer and then you spend lots of money on the way.
With all of that said, The Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is not “technically” walking distance from the strip. I will also say that the surrounding neighborhood is not the prettiest. Please Uber/Lyft to the Strip.
Room Tour
Let’s start with the check-in process. The hotel offers complimentary valet and self-parking. Our party did self-parking but I would suggest unloading your bags and using Bell Service to hold them while you park. The parking garage is not close to the check-in desk, so prepare to walk a bit with your bags if you don’t check them in.
The room check-in area is beautiful. The whole hotel has been reimagined into a desert oasis. Beautiful greenery and stone tables create the perfect scene for a Vegas vacation.
At check-in, the hotel provided an events calendar which we very much appreciated. It included show times and resort promotions.
Something we didn’t expect was the amount of money they charge or ‘hold’ for room incidentals. I’m used to $50 or maybe $100 but this hotel was $200 per room. That’s more than we paid for the room we booked, so it was a bit surprising. I’ve stayed in a number of hotels on the Strip and I don’t remember the hold charge being that high. So it’s something to be aware of.
Our room was located in the Opal tower, just past the event theater and Funny Library Coffee shop. The Opal tower has the regular or basic rooms and the Ruby tower has the nice big suites.
We immediately loved the room when we saw it. I was skeptical at first because I like to have a lot of space in hotel rooms but this room was absolutely perfect!
The separate bathroom and vanity areas were exactly what we needed. And having the couch to relax on after a full day in the sun was perfect.
The room included a single king bed, a couch, a table and a bar cart. The king room gave us a ton of extra space over the room with two queen beds. The room with two queen beds didn’t have a separate seating couch area or table.
The view from our room during the day was nice but at night it was beautiful. We were able to see the entire Strip lit up.
While the room did offer us a ton of space for our food, drinks, and suitcases I will mention a few noteworthy things. The room did not include a coffee maker. You will need to pack cold brew (we did) or purchase coffee downstairs at the Funny Library or Dunkin Donuts. The restaurants aren’t 24 hours, so you may need to order in food for late-night meals or pack some simple snacks.
The room includes a minibar but no empty mini fridge. You will need to pack a cooler if you have drinks or snacks that need to remain cool. We packed a foldable insulated cooler that we kept ice packs in. It was great for the weekend and we used bags of ice to keep items cool for the trip back.

For this hotel not being on the strip, it has some amazing dining options. Our group was in love with the restaurant variety they had on the property. We ended up dining at Nobu the first night and had a quick bite to eat at Dunkin on the way out.
Kassi Beach House looked amazing – from the food and drink list to the ambiance. Casa Calvera was always packed and had a live Mariachi band on Saturday.
Money, Baby! was beautiful. It had a ton of giant screens to catch a game, they had lawn games outside and even aesthetic beer pong tables. It was situated right against Elia Beach Club, so you can here all of the great music while you’re enjoying a drink outside.
Casino/Gambling
The Virgin Hotel has a small gambling floor, nothing compared to the larger casinos on the strip. They have slots, craps, sports betting, and blackjack. It was perfect for making that first bet of the weekend and also the last bet of the weekend. Our group definitely won here, so no complaints!

Final Thoughts
Overall, we loved the hotel. We didn’t know what to expect for our first trip back to Las Vegas after two years away because of Covid but we had an amazing time.
The Virgin Hotels Las Vegas was clean, we felt safe at all times and it was beautiful. The aesthetics here are just gorgeous. We saw a ton of large groups at the pool, out to dinner and gambling. It is a great hotel to relax and unwind a bit.
