Real outfits I wore during five days in Singapore in January, plus practical tips for dressing in the city’s hot, humid climate.
Visiting Singapore in January
We visited Singapore back in January, and the trip almost didn’t happen.
Originally, we had planned the whole trip around the Disney Adventure Cruise that was supposed to sail from Singapore.
But unfortunately, our sailing ended up being cancelled. Which was very unfortunate… especially since we already had flights booked, hotels reserved, and a full two-week trip planned around it.
Because if you’re taking a 17-hour flight, you’re not just popping in for a weekend. You’re seeing as much as you possibly can.
So even though the cruise didn’t happen, we kept the trip and added a few extra nights to our hotels. And honestly? It ended up being amazing!
We were able to slow down a bit more and explore Singapore even deeper.
This was my third visit and my husband’s fourth (maybe fifth – he’s been a lot). We absolutely love Singapore. It’s gorgeous, easy to navigate, the food is incredible, and there is always something to do.
And visiting in January instead of the middle of summer was definitely a win.
Now… when I say cooler weather, I’m using that term very loosely. It’s still Singapore. It’s still warm. It’s still humid. Be prepared.
I also have a full post on everything I always pack for Singapore, which you can check out if you’re planning a trip.
But for now, let’s get into the outfits.

Weather in Singapore in January
Singapore’s weather is pretty consistent year-round: warm, humid, and occasionally rainy.
January is technically one of the cooler months, but cooler in Singapore still means warm temperatures and plenty of humidity.
Expect:
- Temperatures around 75–88°F
- Very high humidity
- Sudden rain showers
- A mix of sunshine and cloudy skies
If you’re used to dry climates like Southern California (hi, that’s me), the humidity will definitely take some getting used to.
My biggest recommendation is to focus on breathable fabrics and comfortable shoes. Singapore is extremely walkable and you’ll likely be outside exploring a lot.
Outfit Tips for Visiting Singapore
The biggest thing to remember when packing for Singapore is that humidity changes everything.
Lightweight, breathable clothing will be your best friend. Cotton, linen, and flowy fabrics work really well in the climate.
I also recommend:
- Comfortable sneakers for walking
- Lightweight dresses or loose shorts
- Crossbody or crescent bags
- A light sweater for air conditioning (malls and restaurants blast it)
- Quick-dry fabrics if you get caught in rain
And speaking of rain… always assume it might rain. Even if the day starts sunny.
Travel Outfit: 17 Hour Flight from LAX to Singapore

For a 17-hour flight, comfort is the only goal.
I wore my new flowy leopard pants from Aerie, a simple tank top, and a lightweight pullover sweater. I always like traveling in layers because airplanes can go from freezing to warm pretty quickly.
I wore sneakers on to the flight but packed a pair of disposable travel slippers in my bag so I could switch once we were settled. It’s a small thing but makes long flights way more comfortable.
And I got a new carry-on backpack! I’m obsessed with travel gear and was so excited to get the Blast backpack from Bagsmart!

The real MVP of this flight though was our Trtle Neck Support pillow. I am not exaggerating when I say it changed my life.
I’ve done this flight multiple times before and have never slept well on planes. But this time I slept for eight straight hours in economy. I woke up shocked. My husband woke up shocked. It was incredible.

Lunch at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre

Our first food stop in Singapore was at Old Airport Road Food Centre, where we met up with a friend who lives in Singapore.
After lunch, we were heading straight to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve because they were hosting a Zootopia 2 pop-up shop and it was the final day. So obviously we had to go.

To stay on theme, I wore my Nick Wilde shirt that I picked up from Shanghai Disneyland last year.
Because I love colorful outfits, I paired it with my pink drawstring pants and my neon purse from Baboon to the Moon. I also added some pink beaded star earrings for a little extra flair.

Early Morning Coffee Run Outfit

You cannot judge a coffee-run outfit.
It is too early to function… let alone style something cute.
I went full comfy mode and wore my pink Muay Thai shorts that I had picked up the week before in Bangkok, along with my new Hong Kong Disneyland jacket.
For shoes, I wore socks with slip-on sandals. Classy.
I wandered around near our hotel looking for caffeine until I finally found a café open and ordered a fantastic matcha.
Relaxing Pool Outfit

We stayed at Mondrian Singapore Duxton, and the rooftop pool there is incredible.
I made it very clear to my husband that I would be spending time at that pool.
Luckily, he had friends in Singapore he wanted to visit… so I encouraged him to go do that while I stayed behind and had pool time. Everyone wins.

I wore a cute orange plaid dress from Anthropologie, grabbed my giant green bag (stuffed with everything), and my favorite Disney hat.
I spent a few hours by the pool reading on my Kindle and started Funny Story by Emily Henry. I ended up finishing it within a few days. So good.

My husband eventually joined me and we swam for a bit and enjoyed a drink together.
It was perfect.

Exploring Singapore Outfit (A Humidity Lesson)

This outfit was originally meant to be a pool outfit… and that was my first mistake.
The dress was made of a thicker yarn material. I knew it wasn’t super breathable but I ignored that fact because it was cute.
I thought I was just heading out to get my nails done.
Instead, that turned into visiting Gardens by the Bay, walking around the SuperTrees, and then going to dinner.
And then it started raining. Hard. For two straight hours.
Between the rain and the humidity, that heavy dress was not the moment.
But it was cute! So we survived.
I did switch my bag though and wore my new Tory Burch bag that I got for Christmas.

Morning at the Singapore Zoo

We finally made it to Singapore Zoo.
I love and appreciate zoos so much, especially ones that put so much effort into habitat design and conservation education.
For this day, I wore my A Bug’s Life dress from Franklin Jay, paired with my pink Steve Madden sneakers and my green crescent bag from Baboon to the Moon.
Simple, comfortable, and perfect for a long day walking around the park.

Hair Appointment + Orchard Road

After the zoo we relaxed at the hotel for a bit and grabbed another matcha.
It was extremely hot and humid that day – and remember, this is considered cooler weather in Singapore.
I changed into something much more comfortable: black shorts, a white t-shirt, and my sneakers.
My husband had secretly booked a hair appointment for me in the Orchard Road shopping area, which was such a nice surprise.
Afterwards, we walked across the street to another giant mall and grabbed Shake Shack. It was so good and very necessary after such a humid day.
Visiting Malaysia for the Day

Malaysia borders Singapore, and our friends who live there go fairly often.
So they offered to take us on a day trip for a food adventure.
Since we knew we’d be walking all day, I kept things simple again: a t-shirt, black shorts, my pink sneakers, and a sweater.
It actually started out kind of cool that morning, so I thought I’d be wearing the sweater all day… but Singapore weather changes quickly and it was warm again within a few hours.
Luckily though – no rain.
Last Day in Singapore

Our flight wasn’t until 7 PM, which meant we had a full final day.
Naturally, I went back to the pool to read and relax.
I wore my neon green swimsuit with my Muay Thai shorts and my green bag, which I’m not exaggerating when I say I used every single day of this trip.

I also added my new white button-up shirt that I bought in Thailand and it was the perfect relaxed layer.
After pool time, I took the longest shower of my life before getting ready for the flight home.

Return Flight Outfit

For the flight home I kept things simple again.
I wore my Hong Kong Disneyland shirt with my green drawstring pants, and layered my Hong Kong Disneyland sweatshirt on top since airplanes are always freezing.
Of course, I added my Mickey Mouse hat too.
But before heading to the airport, we squeezed in one last adventure.

We went to Sentosa Island to visit the newly upgraded Singapore Oceanarium.
It was fantastic… but we had to move fast because we were running out of time before our flight.
We basically sprinted through the aquarium and finished the entire thing in about two hours.
You could easily spend much longer there.

Singapore Travel

Singapore is one of my favorite cities to visit.
Even in the “cooler” months, the weather is still warm and humid, so dressing comfortably and choosing breathable fabrics makes a huge difference.
Always prepare for rain, always wear comfortable shoes, and don’t underestimate the humidity.
Even though our cruise was cancelled, this trip ended up being incredible. We got to spend more time exploring the city, seeing friends, and enjoying everything Singapore has to offer.
And of course… I’m already thinking about when we can go back.
If you have any questions about what to wear or what to pack for Singapore, let me know.
