It happened!! We went on a Disney Cruise! I had never ever been on a cruise before this trip and it was absolutely perfect!
I have to admit, I was kind of afraid at first because I didn’t know how I would do once we were in open water but I did great and everything was perfect! No panic attacks 👏
But let’s get into what took up the most space in my head as we were planning for this trip – the outfits.
I hyper-fixate on every detail when we plan a trip. Honestly, it’s exhausting. I have a love/hate relationship with my outfit planning because it always leads to overpacking. 😸
While I could have cute back on some items I packed, I definitely wore 90% of what I packed. There were a couple of workout outfits I skipped, and then I packed 2 additional outfits that were “scheduled” into my days that I didn’t wear. But that’s it!
This trip is all about the outfits I packed for my first Disney Cruise!
I’ll be sure to cover my huge packing list for my cruise in another post, but now let’s get into the outfit details.

Outfits I Wore on the Very Merrytime Cruise
Disney Cruise Embarkation Day Outfit
I really struggled to plan this outfit at first but once it hit me, I went all in. For me, the first outfit of any trip sets the tone for the trip. It’s part of the experience!!
I may take my outfit planning too seriously but honestly, you should have fun with your style! I feel like I stress out because my outfits aren’t always fun enough lol.
My embarkation outfit was inspired by the Disney Paris Coperni show. The second I saw this outfit I knew I had to recreate it and the Disney Very Merrytime cruise was the perfect opportunity.
Remember what I said about having fun with your style? This was fun!
@julia.vaness Recreating the @coperni outfit from Paris Fashion week at @Disneyland Paris ✨ ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I had so much fun recreating this outfit!! I had the fringe purse too but I forgot to show it. I love dressing up for Disney days and for my first #disneycruise I knew I had to do something special. Disney and Coperni, I love you!! I cant wait for my future self to wear this outfit again at Disney Paris…whenever that may be!! I’m staying positive that it will happen ✨😍 @Disney Parks @Disney Cruise Line Singapore #disneycruise @Disney Style #disneycruiseline #disneycruiseoutfit #disneycruiseembarkationday #disneycruiseembarkationdayoutfit #whattowearonadisneycruise #disneyverymerrytimecruise #disneyverymerrytimecruiseoutfit #copernidisney #copernidisneyparis #recreatingcopernidisneyoutfit #disneystyle #disneyoutfit #disneycoperni #copernifashion ♬ original sound – Julia Vaness
Disney Very Merrytime Cruise Port Day Outfits
We had two port days on our 4-day cruise to the Bahamas. Our first port day was in Nassau. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about visiting Nassau and a lot of people don’t get off the ship but I’ve never been to the Bahamas so I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to visit.
We love to try local restaurants when we travel, so we made sure to make a stop at the Fish Fry. A strip of local restaurants serving, you guessed it, fried fish!
The local food to try that everyone raves about is the conch fritters. We liked them, very tasty, but honestly, we liked the fish dishes and jerk chicken a lot more.
I’ll do a full review of our meal at Curly’s Fish Fry in Nassau for you to check out.
For now, let’s get back to the outfits.
Disney Cruise Nassau Port Day Outfit
@julia.vaness Our first Port day on our Disney cruise!!! We’ve never been to Nassau so we were so excited!!! We went to Atlantis and didn’t win any money 😆 And then we had an amazing lunch at the Fish Fry!! @julia.vaness Outfit of the day for our Nassau port day on our Disney Very Merrytime Cruise 🎄✨ The weather in Nassau in December was great! Mid 70s with light wind. There were some short light showers but nothing crazy. They passed quickly. I used my large canvas Disney tote for the afternoon and it was perfect. Disney’s Castaway Cay Port Day Outfit
Originally, we weren’t supposed to visit Castaway Cay; we were supposed to visit Lookout Cay. The weather was pretty crazy the first day with lots of rocking and crazy wind and showers.
To have a smoother trip and avoid the rain, the captain decided to take us to Castaway Cay.
I was annoyed about this for about 5 seconds when I realized we were going to the full Disney Island!!!
Let me tell you, I cried so many happy tears that day!! It felt like when I went to Disney World for the first time. You know the feeling.
We went super casual for our Castaway Cay day. My husband picked out matching shirts for us the night before that we wore all day on the island.
We started the morning with a 5k, so we packed our running shoes and sandals. I go into more details about the 5k in my Castaway Cay post.
I picked up this straw Minnie Mouse bag from the port in Nassau. They had a ton of beautifully handmade bags, but this one was all I could fit into my luggage. It’s perfect. ♥️
Disney Very Merrytime Cruise Dinner Outfits
This was a 4-night cruise, so we had 4 dinners aboard the ship. Planning outfits for this was actually pretty annoying because they don’t tell you your dining schedule ahead of time, unless you make a specific dining reservation.
I always like to dress up to the theme of the restaurant and because we had two dinner reservations separate from the regular dinners – it kind of messed up my themes.
I’m sure there’s a way to find out more details before you board the ship, but this was my first cruise so I was still learning.
Dinner Outfit at Enchanted Garden on the Disney Fantasy
Originally, this outfit was planned for Animators Palate but everything got mixed up because we added a dinner at Remy and I didn’t know we also have a breakfast reservation for the debarkation day.
Next time, I think I’ll only plan specific outfits for our reserved dining.
Dinner Outfit at Royal Court on the Disney Fantasy
I was so excited to dine at Royal Court but this was the most underwhelming of the restaurants we dined at. I ended up ordering something off-menu because nothing sounded enticing.
But my husband loved it, so it’s just me hahaha I’ll do a full review of our time at Royal Court to go over all the details.
ALSO!! There are no princesses here during dinner. It’s princess-themed but no princesses come out during dinner. I was very sad about this.
The second night of your 4-night Disney Very Merrytime cruise is holiday night. Over half the ship was dressed up in outfits from fun holiday sweaters to fancy holiday attire.
All of the characters were dressed up too! So it’s a really fun night to get involved and dress the theme.
Once again, my outfits were a little offset due to our change in dining plans so I ended up just sticking with my dinner outfit for the evening.
Because this restaurant was princess-themed, I went with a Princess Tiana inspiration for my outfit.
I just picked up a new Princess & the Frog tote from Disneyland and I styled my outfit around it.
Let’s get into the details!
@julia.vaness A very rushed outfit of the night because we were late to dinner 😁 Unfortunately, no princesses come out at dinner. I guess that’s only at a special tea party. I was kind of sad because I really wanted to meet Tiana. But the dinner was nice! Dinner Outfit at Remy on the Disney Fantasy Cruise
We booked our Remy reservation at the very last minute, like the day we boarded. 😀
We had a few drinks while roaming around the ship and a family told us about their time dining at Remy and my husband was hooked. We immediately went to guest services and booked whatever time they had available.
We were able to reserve a 6:30 PM dining reservation for our third night on the cruise. This was the absolute best dining experience!!! We spent 3 hours here!!!
This restaurant is perfect if you’re celebrating something special. We booked the cruise for my 36th birthday, so this was the ultimate birthday treat on board.
Because it was booked last minute I didn’t prepare an outfit for this meal, but it was Pirate night and my outfit felt like it was okay to wear to Remy. It all worked out.
Outfit for Dinner at Palo on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship
Palo was fantastic but I’m not going to lie, after dining at Remy the night before nothing could top it.
I heard that brunch at Palo is fantastic, so we’ll definitely book it for our next Disney cruise.
This day really got away from us. We ended up making friends at the pool, had a few drinks and almost missed our reservations.
I didn’t have time to do my hair or makeup, so I avoided taking pics. I’ll just show you me in the dress from our last trip in Mexico City. 😂
Disney Fantasy Cruise Pirate Night Outfit
Finally, we’ve come to pirate night!! Honestly, this night was amazing. People get really into and for our next cruise I would love to plan matching outfits.
We ordered my husband a pirate-themed shirt from Etsy and then I was inspired by my Shanghai Disney ears for my outfit.
I would say about half the ship got really into Pirate Night with full-on costumes and then the rest were split into themed outfits like us and then no outfit at all.
Disney does provide everyone with pirate bandanas which is so cute and a great way to get everyone involved.
I don’t think everyone knows there’s a pirate night, so they don’t have anything packed. The bandana is super cute and is a great souvenir.
The characters are also dressed up for Pirate Night. It’s a full-on thing on the ship. It was such a party!!
@julia.vaness Pirate night!!! It finally happened!! I was so excited for pirate night 🏴☠️🦜 I feel like this is the night everyone always talks about online. It was so much fun!! I would say about half the people get super into it with full on costumes and then it’s split between fun themed outfit and like no outfit at all. It was really nice that Disney provided pirate bandanas for everyone as a way to get everyone involved. I definitely want to dress up a bit more for our next cruise. Disney Cruise Pool Outfits for Women
We stayed in the adults only pool area and was only really able to spend one full afternoon there. On the second day of the trip we tried to go but it was so windy. We were able to hang out in the hot tub though.
The hot tub is very popular! But we found it got empty around 5 PM because people were getting ready for dinner. We had the second seating for dinner, so this was perfect for us.
My first pool outfit was a fun one! I had no idea what to wear so I just went with a party jacket. 😂 You can never go wrong with tinsel.
I was also stopped multiple times in this outfit, asking if I liked Taylor Swift. And while I do like Taylor Swift, I’ve been wearing tinsel, glitter, and kandi bracelets for years. I have to be one of “those people” about it hahaha. Taylor Swift did not invent tinsel and kandi bracelets. Okay, I’m done with my rant 😂
My second pool outfit was super comfortable and casual. I wore the top to my two-piece Minnie Mouse set my husband picked up for me at the Disney Store in Times Square. It’s part of a collection I’ve seen at the parks, so I’m pretty sure you can find it at Disneyland/Disney World or online.
I paired the top with my pink drawstring pants from H&M. I freaking love these pants. They’re so comfortable.
Disney Cruise Outfit – Day at Sea
We only had 1 full sea day during our cruise and they packed it with tons of activities. They had trivia and crafts going back to back, every 30 minutes.
I love crafts, so this was a very fun day for me.
For my last cruise day outfit I decided to go with some colorful and comfortable.
I layered my green Pluto sweatshirt from Forever 21 over my Disney Parks holiday shirt and kept it comfortable in my favorite denim shorts from Target.
I love going all in on a color, so I wore my green Madden Girl shoes too. I wish I packed my green bag, that would have been perfect!
@julia.vaness Last full day on our Disney cruise! We spent the entire day at the pool and made friends and almost missed our Palo reservation. 😆 Outfit details: Shirt is from @Disney Parks Sweatshirt is from @FOREVER 21 Shoes are from @Madden Girl Earrings are from @Marshalls #disneycruise #disneycruiseline #disneycruiseoutfit #disneyoutfit #disneystyle #womensdisneyoutfit #womensdisneycruiseoutfit #midsizedisneyoutfit #greendisneyoutfit #disneycruiseoutfitideas ♬ original sound – Julia Vaness
Random Comfy Outfits for Disney Cruise
Always plan random outfits – always. Think early mornings at Cabanas or late nights cruising for the bottomless soft-serve.
Something comfortable to wear around the ship that isn’t your pajamas. Although I did see alot of people wearing their pajamas around. I have to say, they looked very comfortable.
If the ship offered robes in each room, I would be wearing the robe the entire trip.
But back to the outfits! I packed very simple comfy clothes, very easy and nothing fancy.
Disembarkation or Debarkation Day Outfit on the Disney Cruise
Does anyone know the proper term for leaving the ship? I swear I’ve heard it both ways. But let’s move on, we have one last outfit to review!
On the last day of the cruise before you leave the ship you have the option to attend a scheduled breakfast.
We were scheduled for the 8 AM seating Animators Palate.
You don’t have to attend this, this is just offered to guests as one last meal before you head out.
We were going to the Kennedy Space Center after we exited the ship but I wanted to keep my Disney holiday vibes going with my outfit.
I wore my holiday Mickey Zara sweater with my new jeans from H&M and my red shoes from Target.
It was super comfortable and perfect for the day.
Planning Outfits for A Disney Cruise
Have fun with the outfits you plan for your Disney Cruise. Everyone on the cruise is in the Disney spirit, nothing is too much.
There are so many matching outfits, matching pajamas, and matching shirts – I would highly suggest getting in on the fun.
Our Very Merrytime cruise has great weather but the water was a bit choppy with heavy winds on the first day. Be prepared for at least one crazy day on board if you’re going on a December cruise, they said they don’t happen often but they do happen.
As far as the weather in Nassau and Castaway Cay in December, it was mid 70’s the entire time with light showers.
You’re going to have a wonderful time on your cruise, I hope this post helped inspire an outfit or two or answered a few questions. If you have anymore questions, please leave them in the comments below.
See you on the Seas!
XOXO,
Julia
