I just got back from Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas, and I already miss it.
Is it possible to have withdrawals from a horror event? Because I think I have them. Just like I do after Horror Nights every year.
But unlike Horror Nights, this one’s year-round. Which means… I guess I need to start going to Vegas more often.
We went to Horror Unleashed on Halloween, so there were tons of costumes, but if you’re wondering what to wear the rest of the year – don’t worry. I’ve got you.

What to Wear to Universal Horror Unleashed

Just like at Horror Nights, you can honestly wear whatever you want – but make sure it’s comfortable and within the guidelines. Basically, no offensive outfits, no props, and no masks.
You’ll be walking, running, jumping, and maybe even crying a little (speaking from experience).
(But also, you can’t actually run, but I totally ran from a scare actor – it happens. hahaha)
Start with comfortable shoes. That’s rule number one. Trust me, cute shoes aren’t worth it when you’re trying to sprint through a maze.
I usually go with a light jacket or no jacket at all. You’ll get sweaty when you’re literally fearing for your life. After the Exorcist maze, I needed a minute – a scare actor followed me through two rooms growling in my ear. TWO. It was terrifying.
So yeah, be prepared to sweat… or cry… or both.
But have fun with it too – it’s Vegas! You can go a little bolder, a little edgier. It’s the perfect excuse to play with your outfit and still be comfy enough to enjoy all the scares.

My Horror Unleashed Outfit
Since we went on Halloween, the vibe was next level. People were in full costumes – like, running through mazes dressed as clowns and vampires – and it was hilarious and chaotic in the best way.
I’m a little sad to go again when it’s not Halloween because I love seeing all the costumes. But even without dressing up, I still went full Horror Nights vibes.

I packed super light for the weekend – very not me – and wore my Horror Nights shirt and jacket I bought a couple years ago. Styled it with my black micro shorts (yep, the Coachella ones) and a beaded belt I made that said “my heart burns there too.” (Because It is one of my favorite movies – the original, not the remake. Let’s be clear.)
Finished it off with sneakers because… practicality. I did, however, forget my glow sticks again – tragic. I swear I’ll remember next time.

My bestie wore a cute plaid skort with platform shoes and a black long-sleeve top.
We both packed small crossbody bags, and they were perfect.

What to Pack for Universal Horror Unleashed

Even though Horror Unleashed isn’t an all-night event like Horror Nights, it still takes a little prep. We spent about 3.5 hours there and easily could’ve stayed longer. Definitely plan ahead so you can make the most of your time.
Here’s what to pack:
- Earplugs – If you have any sensory sensitivities, these are a must. The mazes can get really loud with all the screaming (I use Loop earplugs).
- Sunglasses – Sounds weird, but it helps! Between the flashing lights and strobe effects, sunglasses make it a little easier to handle the chaos. (I have a lot of sensitivities 😀)
- Phone + Portable Charger – You’ll want to record reactions, take photos, and still have battery for the ride home.
- ID for Drinks – It’s Vegas. You’re going to want a drink at some point. Don’t forget your ID.
- Comfortable Shoes – I’ll say it again. You’ll be walking, running, dodging monsters — comfort first.
Outfit Planning for Horror Unleashed
Whether you’re going on Halloween or any random weekend, Horror Unleashed Las Vegas is such a fun, unique experience.
The mazes, the energy, the screams – it’s everything you’d want from a year-round horror park.
Dress comfy, lean into the vibe, and get ready to laugh-scream your way through it all.
And if you see someone running out of a maze in sunglasses, it’s probably me.
Enjoy!! And Happy Horrors!
XOXO,
Julia
