Let’s review another Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel in Anaheim to help you plan your next Disney vacation.
This post is all about the Springhill Suites Anaheim Maingate hotel near Disneyland.
The Springhill Suites hotel is located on Ball Road, just off the Disneyland exit. If you’re familiar with the Mickey and Friends parking structure, it’s located just behind it.
This is a prime location (especially when the tram is running) for families visiting the Disney parks. It’s close, newly renovated and has decently sized rooms.
For this trip, we had two adults and one child staying in the room.
Hotel Details
Location – The SpringHill Suites is located on Ball, right at the Disneyland exit. It’s placed behind the Mickey and Friends parking structure. On a regular day pre-covid you could take the Mickey and Friends tram which is a very short walk from the hotel. Now, there is no tram so you have walk the entire way. In the morning it’s not a bad walk at all – at night it’s the longest walk of your life.
Transportation – The hotel doesn’t have its own shuttle to the parks. Just like most of the hotels in Anaheim, they all use TripShot (Anaheim Bus Transportation – ART Bus). This is very unreliable and usually runs about every 45 minutes to an hour, even though they say every 20 minutes. An uber will cost about $11 to the Disney main gates or it’s a mile of walking. I recommend walking in the morning and calling an uber from the Disneyland Hotel or the Grand Californian at night. Ubers and Lyft’s will cancel on you if you try to order one near the main gates on Harbor Blvd at the end of the night and a taxi will run you about $20 per mile.
Price – I booked our hotel through Hotels.com and the total price was $157.17. Nine out of ten times book my hotel through hotels.com because it’s easy to compare prices all in one place but I’ve also booked straight through the hotels too. It really depends if there are good deals on the site and if breakfast or parking is included.
Amenities
Gym – Access to the gym was included with the stay. Right now for Covid-19, only 3 people are allowed in the gym at a time. It’s a small gym, so I understand why. But they did have machines and weights. If we had a bit more time there I would have used it. It looked clean and updated.
Parking – Parking is $15 per car, the Disney parking structure is $30. When I checked in at the hotel they said parking was included because of the room I booked. I’m not sure if this was also a complimentary upgrade due to Covid-19 but it was nice to save a bit of money since we had two cars.
Breakfast – I paid a slightly higher rate to have breakfast included with the room. We didn’t end up having breakfast at the hotel because we went to Downtown Disney but I like to always have it included just in case we don’t have time to go out to eat before we head back home or to the park. The breakfast is usually a buffet but due to covid-19 it was all to-go style. They had yogurt, fruit, coffee, and wrapped breakfast sandwiches.
Pool – There was a pool but we didn’t go in. The day after our Disneyland day we went back to Downtown Disney for brunch and souvenir shopping. It looked really nice though, it will be great for the summer when it gets really hot in Anaheim. This trip was around 70 degrees and cloudy. It even rained a bit in the morning.
Room Tour
The hotel was great. Nicely furnished, looked updated and clean. The back of the lobby where the dining area is was marked off and only the outdoor seating was available for eating. Masks had to be worn inside at all times when you’re not in your room.
The breakfast was served to-go style and there didn’t seem to be many people there both mornings. So it is a nice quiet option if you are choosing to eat before you go to Disneyland or head home.
They had a small convenience food area with lots of ice cream, water, Gatorade, and packaged snacks. They also had a first-aid section with the usual items like band-aids, Tylenol, and wet wipes.
I did see some wine and beer being sold as well if you would like a drink before or after you visit the parks.
These convenience areas are great if you’re in a pinch and forget your snacks or water and are definitely cheaper than buying items at the park.
Our room was the cutest! I didn’t know what to expect ( I mean I saw the photos) but you never know if it’s as nice as it looks online. Some hotels in the area make it look updated when it’s not.
I am happy to report this hotel was nicely renovated. I did see a few areas where you could tell they hadn’t been updated but they were so small. The rooms and hallways all looked great. And the elevators too! I’m always a little hesitant about hotels with older elevators.
The room was 325 sq ft and fit the three of us perfectly. It was myself, my cousin and her daughter. There was more than enough space for us all to spread out and relax after a very long day at Disneyland.
The room included two queen beds and a sofa bed. There was a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker which are always a must in a hotel room. It’s always tough when a room doesn’t include a kitchenette area and you’re staying for a few days or visiting a place like Disney where you will be packing lots of snacks for the weekend.
The room was very spacious and had a lot of room for luggage. There was a giant closet that could easily fit a few suitcases and souvenir bags. They also had extra blankets and pillows tucked away in the closet.
The bathroom is nice and big but be warned the bathroom is directly across from the beds – like two feet away. So if you’re bathroom shy…maybe don’t stay with friends hahaha. It’s very close to everyone.
Closing Thoughts
The Springhill Suites Hotel in Anaheim was two thumbs up from us. I asked my cousin for her feedback and she said she would definitely stay here again. We love finding great rooms near the parks for a reasonable price. This may be my new go-to hotel. I had previously booked MANY nights at the Holiday Inn on Walnut (right next door to SpringHill Suites) but the hotel is closed right now. We also love the Anaheim Hotel.
I typically stay at these extended-stay-type hotels because of the added kitchenette and living space. When I go with my husband and we’re celebrating our anniversary or my birthday we will stay at the Disneyland Hotel or the Grand Californian Hotel. We’re looking forward to staying the night at the new Westin Anaheim and the JW Marriott Anaheim, both conveniently located near Disneyland.
There are a lot of great hotel options surrounding Disneyland. I would highly recommend staying at SpringHill Suites for your future trip.
