Universal and The Pokémon Company announce a long-term partnership to bring the beloved franchise to life in immersive new ways

Universal Studios Japan has officially announced a new partnership with The Pokémon Company to develop immersive Pokémon experiences at the park. This marks the start of a long-term collaboration focused on bringing the world of Pokémon into a real-life theme park setting.
While specific attractions and timelines haven’t been announced yet, the project is positioned as a major new addition to Universal Studios Japan.
For a lot of us, Pokémon has been part of life for a long time.
I remember being in elementary school when Pokémon cards were banned because no one was paying attention in class. Kids showed up with giant binders. Trades happened at recess. It was a whole thing. Seeing Pokémon now move into a full-scale theme park environment feels like a natural next chapter, especially for fans who grew up with it.
According to the announcement, this partnership will focus on immersive experiences that combine Universal’s theme park design with Pokémon’s characters and storytelling. It’s being described as a global initiative, with Universal Studios Japan serving as the first location.
That choice makes sense.
Japan is Pokémon’s home, and Universal Studios Japan has become known for building highly detailed, fan-focused experiences. Starting here sets the tone for what this collaboration could become.
